Finish Line

Finish Line

11/07/2025

As we move closer to the last day of the year, I can’t help but feel excited. Everything is possible. The finish line of 2025 is leading us to our next journey, and for that I am grateful. Each year we accomplish more than we realize. We struggle, grow, and change, emotionally and physically. Evolving even as we step over the finish line from the past and face our future. I’m celebrating who I was, who I am, and who I will be at the end of next year. Yet, reminding myself to be patient and gracious. To remind myself that 360 degrees of kindness, although a challenge, is always the best choice. Move ahead to the finish line. Give back. Pay it forward. Peace and love.

Hello Moon

Hello Moon

09/09/2025

I connect with the moon every morning. Together, we start the day early. I take my first look out of the window and smile as night leaves and my moon fades into the morning sky. Over many years, we have built a camaraderie. I say ‘hello moon’ whether obscured by the clouds or if it is preparing to appear from its new moon stage. For me, the moon is about transformation, change, and spiritual growth. The brightness of the full moon is the light at the end of the tunnel. Lighting my path. Making me aware of obstacles and encouraging me to become stronger, to continue learning about life. People have traveled to the moon. We can all look into the sky at night and we see the same moon. Connecting us. Reminding us we share the universe, planet Earth and the neighborhoods where we live. My moon, our moon. Moonbeams with their quiet presence, bring hope and guidance for us. Hello Moon.

Leaving Our Mark

Leaving Our Mark

08/01/2025

My time of year, fall. Crisp air. Leaves change color and drift away from their homes in the trees. From the moment their green color first appears in the spring until they land where they may when summer moves on. My driveway seems to welcome the leaves. The rain offers a last soaking, causing a chemical reaction between the leaf and the cement. It is a beautiful, haunting impression of what was. A reminder of cycling through life, changing, and leaving your mark. If we choose to believe it or not, we all leave our mark. Consciously or unconsciously paying it forward by simply smiling at a stranger. Sitting quietly with a cat on your lap. Stepping up to help when the need presents. It is easy to lose sight of kindness when personal and global stress overwhelm us. I catch myself being impatient, frustrated, even distant for many reasons. I have to stop myself. It can be a struggle. Then I ask myself if this is the mark I want to leave. Of course not. The mark I want to leave has a theme song. A song that can take a grey moment and give it good energy. "Higher and Higher", by Jackie Wilson. I hear the song in my head. I think about the scene in Ghostbusters when the city comes together. Yes, it is a fictional film, but that scene is what it's all about. The outpouring of love, and positive change. Good things. That’s the mark I want to leave.

A Worthy Purpose

A Worthy Purpose

10/02/2025

Ah, yes. Fall. Well, officially, September 22nd is the autumnal equinox. For me, it is and always will be September 1st. As of the first day of this month, I smiled and sighed with relief at the reprieve from the oppressive summer heat. The heat was rough this summer. Ugh to the tenth power on that. It interfered with any thoughts I had for most outdoor activities, but my simple, pleasant garden was my driving force to face the heat. My goal in our new place was to grow Big Boy and cherry tomatoes, with the bonus of basil, a lemon tree and a butterfly bush. The lemon tree has grown three times its original size. The butterfly bush welcomed many honeybees and a variety of butterflies. A friend gifted me a seed potato, and I grew enough to make quite a delish cold potato salad.  To say the least, I was excited about the tomato plants, ah, homegrown. Such a treat. The plants were small when I bought them, but they did not disappoint. One early morning after I gave them a huge dousing of water, I looked at the water droplets on the tomatoes; they looked fresh and lovely. Each tomato was growing at its own pace. No pressure to be more than what they were as they hung there connected to the vine that offered them sustenance. Growing and maturing into their purpose. A fine existence.
